A potential opponent has ruled out running for office, making the path to Bernham taking over Downing Street even clearer.
Andy Burnham is almost certain to become the next Prime Minister of the UK. Darren Jones, who was previously seen as a potential competitor, has stated that he will not contest for leadership. Minister Jones is also an ally of the outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and he ruled out the possibility of running in an interview with Sky News on Wednesday, expressing his belief that Burnham will become the next Prime Minister. Former Mayor of Manchester, Burnham, is increasingly likely to be the only candidate nominated to succeed Starmer as leader of the Labour Party. Without any competitors, he could become Prime Minister in mid-July.
