Chief of Policy Office of South Korean President: Samsung and SK Hynix's new chip cluster planning entering final stages.
On June 24th, Jin Yong-fan, head of the policy room at the South Korean presidential office, stated that the plan for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix to establish a new semiconductor cluster has entered the final discussion stage, and once finalized, it will be officially announced to the public. Jin Yong-fan pointed out that due to the "explosive growth" in demand for chips in the artificial intelligence industry, the construction process of the existing Pyeongtaek semiconductor cluster by the two companies will be significantly accelerated. SK Hynix plans to build four semiconductor plants in Pyeongtaek, and is currently discussing advancing the completion time of the fourth plant from the original 2044 to 2034.
