The Department of Energy and Natural Resources of Canada released its nuclear energy strategy on the 22nd, aimed at expanding its domestic nuclear power construction and promoting related technology and resource exports, comprehensively enhancing the country's position in the international nuclear energy field. According to the strategy, Canada plans to build up to 10 large nuclear reactors within its borders. Two of them are scheduled to start construction before 2035, while another 5 are planned to enter the planning or development stages before 2040. In addition, the country will also promote the construction of small modular reactors, as well as the demonstration operation and deployment of micro-reactors in remote communities. In terms of international cooperation and technology exports, the strategy proposes that by 2040, Canada's heavy water uranium reactor technology will enter at least 4 new international markets, and establish cooperation with 6 to 10 emerging nuclear energy markets in the next 15 years. In terms of nuclear fuel exports and investments, Canada plans to review and update its uranium mining investment policy by 2027 to attract foreign capital, aiming to double uranium exports by 2035 compared to 2024.
