The crew endorsement work for the Pinglu Canal route has been launched.
Authorized by the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, the Guangxi Maritime Bureau officially announced on the 22nd the addition of the "Pinglu Canal Route" endorsement and simultaneously started teacher training and crew endorsement work. This marks the start of the qualification guarantee work for the crew sailing on the canal. The "Pinglu Canal Route" spans approximately 134.2 kilometers from the mouth of the Pingtang River in Hengzhou City, Nanning to Qinzhou Port, covering complex scenes such as continuous bends, narrow waterways, bridge areas, and river-sea convergence areas, posing high navigation risks. According to the "People's Republic of China Seafarer Regulations", the seafarer's certificate must specify the navigation area or route and may not exceed the scope of duty. Starting today, maritime authorities will concurrently open seafarer examinations and endorsement applications. The Pinglu Canal is the backbone project of the Western Land and Sea New Channel, the first grand canal to connect rivers and seas built since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and is expected to be fully navigable in September of this year.
