The reporter learned from Haikou Meilan International Airport that on June 20, 2026, Haikou Meilan International Airport officially opened the first intercontinental route connecting Hainan Free Trade Port to Spain, "Haikou = Chongqing = Madrid", establishing a convenient air bridge connecting Hainan to Southern Europe and radiating throughout Europe. This will further deepen cultural and tourism exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between China and Europe, and help Hainan Free Trade Port to continuously expand its high-level opening to the outside world. It is reported that this route is operated by Hainan Airlines, with flights every Saturday using the wide-body Boeing 787 aircraft. The outbound flight HU7971 is scheduled to depart from Haikou at 21:10 Beijing time, stop over at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport at 23:25, depart from Chongqing at 02:25 the next day, and arrive at Madrid Barajas Airport at 09:00 local time. The return flight HU7972 is scheduled to depart from Madrid at 11:05 local time every Sunday, stop over at Chongqing Jiangbei Airport at 05:00 Beijing time the next day, depart from Chongqing at 07:50, and arrive at Haikou at 10:00.
