Sichuan's Qiqu Mountain Scenic Area was accused of illegally charging tolls on national roads, official announcement

The Information Office of the People's Government of Zitong County, Sichuan Province, announced that the road in the Qiqu Mountain Scenic Area is free of charge for passage, and visitors only need to purchase tickets to enter the Qiqu Mountain Great Temple. Zitong County has launched an investigation and rectification for the inadequate execution of the scenic area management system during the diversion of vehicles and the guidance of safe passage. In May of this year, in order to improve the quality of service in the scenic area, the ferry is now free of charge. Next, scientific scheduling of vehicle passage will be conducted, additional free sightseeing cars will be added to the north and south tour routes within the scenic area, road signs and plaques will be improved, navigation information will be updated in a timely manner, and overall standardization of scenic area operation and management will be carried out. The original village residents and operators within the scenic area have always been allowed free passage for both people and vehicles. Although there are currently three free shuttle services in the morning, afternoon, and evening, there are still issues of inadequate passage guarantee. Zitong County is gaining a deeper understanding of the wishes of the original village residents, and the next step will be to better ensure their travel needs by increasing the frequency of free shuttle services and other measures.
