The new excavation area of the Three Gorges Hub New Channel is expected to complete the excavation task by October of this year.
Reporters learned from the Three Gorges Water Transport New Channel project site that the preliminary excavation area of the new channel at the Three Gorges Hub has completed the stripping of the topsoil, and is expected to complete the excavation task by October this year. The preliminary excavation area of the Three Gorges Hub's new channel is located at the end of the upstream navigation channel of the new channel to be built. The project covers six core contents including excavation of the navigation channel test section and slope support and drainage, construction testing, etc., with a large amount of work. Up to now, the preliminary excavation area has completed the stripping of the topsoil and is steadily progressing with key processes such as excavation of the navigation channel test section, rock blasting, and support operations. About 4.15 million cubic meters of earth and rock excavation has been completed, accounting for 48% of the total excavation volume, and the overall construction progress is in line with expectations. According to the plan, the preliminary excavation area is expected to complete the excavation task by October this year.
