In June 2016, cross-border international trains such as Chongqing-Europe, Chengdu-Europe, Yiwu-Europe, and Wuhan-Europe began operating under the unified brand of China-Europe Express. Over the past 10 years, the scale, coverage, service quality, and radiating effect of the China-Europe Express have significantly increased, with the transportation network covering most of Asia and Europe. Data released by China Railway Group today shows that the number of China-Europe Express trains operating each year has increased by 10.8 times over the past decade. The annual number of China-Europe Express trains has increased from 1702 in 2016 to 20,022 in 2025, a 10.8-fold increase over 10 years, with an average annual growth rate of 31.5%. Since 2020, the annual transport volume has consistently remained above 10,000 trains. The latest statistics show that 129 cities in China now have access to the China-Europe Express, reaching 236 cities in 26 European countries, an increase of 113 and 216 cities respectively since 2016, with the service coverage now basically spanning all of Asia and Europe.
