The Commonwealth Bank of Australia appoints new Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer to drive technology and artificial intelligence strategies.
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia appointed Victoria Laidlaw as Chief Information Officer and Rodrigo Castilho as Chief Technology Officer on Friday, with the aim of further strengthening the bank's capabilities in digitalization, data, and artificial intelligence fields. CEO Matt Comyn stated that these appointments demonstrate the bank's commitment to providing customers with higher quality, safer, and more resilient technology. CBA noted that the appointments will take effect on July 1st, subject to regulatory approval. CBA, which has positioned itself as an early adopter of artificial intelligence, recently held an internal summit with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in attendance, and hired what is reportedly the country's first bank Chief Artificial Intelligence Scientist.
