After the European Union's initial investigation into the monopolistic power in the cloud computing market, Microsoft's Azure and Amazon's cloud computing services will face strict anti-monopoly regulation. According to anonymous sources, the European Commission is expected to announce the preliminary investigation results next week, indicating that AWS and Azure may meet the requirements of the EU's Digital Markets Act regulation. The sources also added that the EU is expected to make a final decision by the end of this year, but the timeline could still change. If these tech giants' services are ultimately subject to comprehensive regulation under the DMA, they will face a range of obligations, including interoperability requirements, as well as restrictions on customer lock-in and self-preferential treatment. Both the European Commission and Microsoft declined to comment. AWS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
