Journalists learned from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs that this year's large-scale machine harvesting of "Three Summer" wheat started on May 28th. As of today, the harvest progress of summer wheat in the whole country has exceeded 96%. Except for the Northwest regions such as Xinjiang and Gansu where wheat harvest will continue to progress, the key wheat-producing areas in the Southwest, Huang-Huai-Hai region have already finished harvesting, basically ending the large-scale machine harvesting of "Three Summer" wheat this year. The progress of this year's "Three Summer" harvest was fast. The large-scale machine harvesting of wheat started on May 28th and rapidly advanced from south to north, completing the large-scale harvesting task in 22 days, which was 2 days faster than last year. During the peak period of harvest from May 31st to June 13th, the daily harvest nationwide exceeded 16 million mu, with Henan, a major wheat-producing province, continuously harvesting over 10 million mu per day for 3 days, and successfully completing the concentrated harvest task in about a week. During the "Three Summer" period, domestic combine harvesters were iteratively upgraded, with the feeding capacity of domestic wheeled models reaching 12 kilograms per second and the crawler models reaching 9 kilograms per second, with Beidou positioning operation monitoring becoming standard. The average loss rate of wheat machine harvesting in many areas was controlled within a good level of less than 1%, with provinces such as Henan and Anhui organizing machine harvesting competitions on-site with measured loss rates around 0.5%, providing strong support for ensuring a good summer grain harvest and stable grain production throughout the year. In most wheat harvesting areas this year, rainfall was more than usual, with Hubei experiencing strong rainfall in mid-May, shortening the window for wheat harvesting to about 3 days. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs urgently mobilized 13,000 combine harvesters to support harvesting across regions. After the onset of the rainy season on June 1st, timely warnings and forecasts were issued for the frequent showers and severe convective weather in the Huang-Huai-Hai region, mobilizing regional agricultural emergency response centers, agricultural socialized service centers, and emergency service teams to fully support harvesting and achieve "grabbing grains from the mouths of rain".
