The World Meteorological Organization released the "African Climate Status 2025" report in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on the 18th. The data shows that extreme weather and climate-related events affected at least 13 million people in Africa last year, with the death toll in the report exceeding 3,000 people, causing chain effects in various economic and social sectors. The report points out that in 2025, severe climate events in Africa have triggered a profound socio-economic crisis, requiring strengthened responses. Currently, although less than 40% of African countries have disaster prevention and emergency response capabilities, the enthusiasm of countries participating in the United Nations' "All of Society Early Warning Initiative" continues to rise, with many countries pledging to develop national roadmaps.
