United Nations Report: Record Number of Children Affected by Armed Conflicts Last Year
The United Nations Secretary-General's annual report on "Children and Armed Conflict" was released on the 17th. The report shows that according to the United Nations, the number of children affected by armed conflict reached 24,174 last year, the highest record since the report was first released 30 years ago. The report also says that by 2025, children will still be kidnapped as child soldiers or victims of sexual abuse, and the number of rapes and other cases of sexual violence against children has not decreased. For the first time in 30 years, state actors have become the main perpetrators of child violations in armed conflicts.
