Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, presided over the executive meeting of the municipal government today, and urged continuous efforts to promote the upgrading of Shanghai International Trade Center in accordance with the deployment of the municipal party committee; to achieve substantial new results in the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas; to promote urban renewal and housing development with high quality; and to develop the "one river, one river" coastal area into a world-class waterfront area. The meeting approved the "Fifteen-Five Plan for Urban Renewal and Housing Development in Shanghai" in principle and pointed out that it is necessary to carry out urban renewal actions with high quality, accelerate the construction of a new mode of real estate development, and strive to build a modern people's city that is innovative, livable, beautiful, resilient, civilized, and intelligent. It is necessary to adhere to planning guidance, highlight people's livelihood as a priority, improve quality and efficiency, and inherit cultural heritage, shaping a new urban space for the people through urban renewal. It is necessary to promote both renting and purchasing, and paint a new picture of livable Shanghai through housing development. Efforts should be made to stabilize the market, strengthen guarantees, provide excellent service, and strive to achieve a balance between supply and demand of commercial housing, overall price stability, expand and improve the quality of affordable rental housing, promote the completion of community committee buildings, and solve the problem of property services in residential areas.
