MLCC shortage continues to expand, suppliers anticipate shortages to persist until 2027 or even 2028.
Channel distributors have reported that the shortage of MLCCs is no longer limited to those used in AI applications, as the shortage now affects main specification products as well. Passive component manufacturer Yageo has pointed out that the most severely short supply is for the 47F specification, as high-end orders related to AI have squeezed the production capacity of manufacturers in Japan and South Korea. This shortage is also affecting high-capacity components like 10uF, 22uF, and X5R used in smartphones and PCs. The current shortage of MLCCs is expected to continue until 2027 or even 2028, potentially surpassing the passive component shortage crisis of 2018.
