Survey: The majority of companies expect to achieve electrification of operations by 2035.
A survey of 18 countries' business executives released on Monday shows that as companies gradually move away from fossil fuels, most businesses expect their operations to be largely electrified by 2035. Consultancy firm Public First surveyed 1,994 executives and senior managers from businesses with annual revenues of over $1 million between April 20 and 26. The survey was commissioned by E3G, the We Mean Business coalition, and the global Renewable Energy Alliance. The surveyed companies are from Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, the Philippines, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the UK, and the US. 90% of respondents said they expect their operations to be mostly electrified by 2035. 90% of respondents also said that transitioning to a renewable energy-based power system could promote economic growth. 88% of respondents said that electrifying their businesses would enhance their competitiveness. 91% of respondents said that electrification would increase energy security.
