EU Commission spokesperson: Assessing the practical impact of the Anthropocene decision.
The European Commission said on Sunday that it is assessing the real impact of a U.S. export control directive affecting the artificial intelligence company Anthropic, and emphasized that the relevant measures should not discriminate against partners. Last Friday, Anthropic stated that after the U.S. government requested it to suspend access to its models for foreign citizens on national security grounds, it would "suddenly deactivate" its most advanced artificial intelligence model, affecting all users. "We are witnessing the entry of a new generation of high-performance AI models in the market. These models bring significant benefits, including in network defense, but they also raise serious network security issues that need to be addressed urgently," said EU Commission spokesperson Rainier in a statement. "We believe that emergency measures taken in this context should not discriminate against partners," he said.
