SpaceX shareholders Ark invest favorably in orbital data centers, expecting to bring in 300 billion dollars in revenue.
Brett Winton, the chief futurist at Ark Investment Management, stated that if SpaceX were to deploy tens of gigawatts of orbital data center capacity by the end of the 2020s at current leasing rates, they could potentially generate annual revenue of $300 billion. Winton pointed out that the Starlink project alone could achieve a payback period of six months, as the cost of launching a fully loaded satellite by SpaceX is approximately $500 million, but these satellites could generate $1 billion in revenue each year within their 5-year lifespan. Ark had previously predicted that SpaceX's enterprise value could reach $2.5 trillion by 2030. Winton also mentioned that Musk may choose to merge SpaceX with his publicly traded Tesla company after IPO restrictions are lifted.
