On June 11, 2026, the Postal Industry Green Packaging Promotion Conference was held in Sanming City, Fujian Province. The conference was hosted by the China Express Association, focusing on the promotion of the "replace plastic with bamboo" application in the express delivery industry. The industry's first special initiative was launched, setting a five-year goal for promoting "replace plastic with bamboo" and striving to achieve an average annual increase of 50% in the use of bamboo express packaging by 2030, injecting new momentum into the green development of the express delivery industry. Liao Jinrong, member of the Party Group of the State Post Bureau and Deputy Director, Kang Tao, member of the Party Group of the Fujian Provincial Government, Zhao Xiaoguang, President of the China Express Association, and Li Chunchu, Secretary of the Sanming Municipal Party Committee attended the meeting and delivered speeches. At the meeting, the China Express Association launched the initiative "replace plastic with bamboo, towards green". To respond to the global initiative of "replace plastic with bamboo" jointly launched by the Chinese government and the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization, to thoroughly implement the national ecological civilization construction and green low-carbon development deployment, and to implement the requirements of green, reduced, and recyclable express packaging in the "Interim Regulations on Express Delivery". The Association proposed that the entire industry accelerate the promotion of the use of bamboo express packaging. The initiative sets out five-year phased objectives for the express delivery industry to use bamboo packaging from 2026 to 2030, with annual quantified usage targets: the annual usage of bamboo express packaging should not be less than 200 million, 300 million, 450 million, 680 million, and 1 billion respectively, with an estimated average annual growth rate of 50%.
