Chip equipment manufacturer ASML announced after completing negotiations with the Dutch union that the actual number of layoffs will be less than previously planned, and the layoffs are expected to take effect after May 1st next year. According to a union spokesperson, employees will find out next month whether their positions are affected after negotiations with the staff council representing the employees are completed. De Unie union spokesperson Diederik Bonarius stated that affected employees will have until May 2027 to find a new job, with compensation up to 400,000 euros. An ASML spokesperson stated that the final number of layoffs will be determined after the process is completed, and the company's current goal is to reduce the overall number of layoffs. ASML announced in January of this year plans to lay off approximately 1,700 employees, representing about 4% of the total workforce.
