Deputy Minister Zhang Zhili of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently stated at the main event of the national synchronized breeding and release of aquatic organisms in 2026 that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, more than 150 billion various types of aquatic organisms were released, achieving significant ecological, economic, and social benefits. Zhang Zhili said that breeding and releasing is a universally recognized means of conserving aquatic biological resources and restoring aquatic ecosystems worldwide, as well as an important measure to maintain biodiversity and demonstrate a responsible national image. He said that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, more than 150 billion various types of aquatic organisms were released nationwide. According to monitoring data, over 90% of the Chinese prawn caught in the Bohai Sea each year comes from breeding and releasing. More than 30% of the yellow croaker caught in the East China Sea are from artificial breeding resources. The Chinese sturgeon released in the Yangtze River basin, over 12% have entered the ocean, and after more than 20 years, the population of the Psephurus gladius has reappeared in Lake Bositeng in Xinjiang.
