Eighty percent of respondents in a New Zealand poll believe that their relationship with Asia is very important.

The Asia New Zealand Foundation released its annual survey report on "Perceptions of Asia and Asian Peoples" on the 10th. The survey results showed that 81% of respondents believed that developing relationships with Asia was very important, with 39% considering it extremely important. The survey was conducted from January to February this year and covered 2300 New Zealanders aged 15 and over. 43% of respondents considered China to be friendly, up from 38% last year; while the percentage of those considering the United States to be friendly dropped from 61% to 39%. Over 70% of respondents expected that in the next ten years, technology, tourism, economic growth, and investment from Asia would have a positive impact. 60% of respondents felt a connection to Asian culture, an increase of 4% from the previous year. The survey report quoted the words of the Foundation's CEO, Susanna Jones, who said that New Zealanders continue to recognize the importance of the Asia region to New Zealand's future. The Asia New Zealand Foundation is a think tank organization led by the New Zealand government, whose members are mainly diplomats, scholars, and business people. Since 1997, the foundation has been conducting surveys focused on the theme of "Impressions of Asia".
