Follow-up on the Hong Kong Hor Fu Yuen fire: Police and the Independent Commission Against Corruption have pressed charges against 7 individuals and 2 companies, involving a total of 25 charges.
According to a report by Radio Television Hong Kong, after the fire incident at the Homantin Estate in Tai Po, the Hong Kong police and the Independent Commission Against Corruption filed charges against 7 individuals and 2 companies on June 10, involving a total of 25 charges including manslaughter, conspiracy to defraud, money laundering, attempting to obstruct justice, and tax evasion. The two cases were heard at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court on the same day. The 7 individuals charged held different roles during the renovation works at the Homantin Estate, including directors of the engineering consulting company and the registered inspection personnel employed by them, as well as directors of the main contracting company. The two companies charged are the engineering consulting company and the main contracting company responsible for the renovation works at the Homantin Estate. The joint investigation team of the Hong Kong police and Independent Commission Against Corruption will meet with the media after the court proceedings to provide updates on the comprehensive investigation into the cause of the fire and allegations of corruption related to the estate's renovation works.
