Xiaopeng was rumored to have had a key robot personnel leave their position, but insiders say that the business is progressing smoothly.
On June 5th, rumors circulated in the market that Shi Xiaoxin, the senior director of product planning at Xiaopeng Robotics, had officially resigned at the beginning of June. It is understood that Shi Xiaoxin was a key figure in building Xiaopeng's humanoid product system from scratch, covering three major phases of Pengxing Intelligence integration, team integration into Xiaopeng Group, and the prototype iteration to mass production preparation of Iron humanoid robot. Since Xiaopeng completed the acquisition of Pengxing Intelligence in 2023 and officially anchored the Iron development roadmap, Shi Xiaoxin has been leading the definition of the entire Iron product lineup, serving as a core figure in that business line.
For the capital market, Iron is not unfamiliar. Last November, Xiaopeng's humanoid robot Iron caused a stir online due to its human-like walking. Public information shows that it was Shi Xiaoxin who led the team to achieve breakthroughs in key technologies such as humanoid movements, collaboratively creating the iconic humanoid robot product Iron and driving the optimization of modeling and brand collaboration. It is worth noting that in May of this year, Shi Xiaoxin also served as a guest lecturer at Shanghai University of Technology, sharing the production experience of Xiaopeng humanoid robots and elaborating on the design of "extreme anthropomorphism", bone-muscle-skin bionics structure, human-like mobility, and human-machine interaction design.
Therefore, the news of his resignation at this time came as a surprise to the industry. Especially since 2026 is a crucial year for the mass production of Xiaopeng Iron. He Xiaopeng explicitly stated in the first quarter performance exchange meeting in 2026 that the goal is to achieve mass production of Iron by the end of this year, starting with commercial use in Xiaopeng's stores and delivering to domestic and international commercial customers in 2027. Therefore, there are concerns in the market that Shi Xiaoxin's departure may affect the mass production progress of Xiaopeng's humanoid robots. In response, an insider at Xiaopeng Motors told reporters, "We are not sure about the situation, but everything is going smoothly for us now."
