After replacing the chief analyst of the automotive industry, JPMorgan's bearish attitude towards Tesla has significantly weakened. Prior to this, JPMorgan had appointed Rajat Gupta to take over from Ryan Brinkman in tracking the automotive sector. Brinkman has long been one of Wall Street's most bearish analysts on Tesla stock. Gupta, who took over, raised JPMorgan's target price for Tesla to $475 and upgraded the stock to an equivalent of a hold rating. Brinkman has been advising to sell Tesla stock since 2015, and once predicted that its stock price would plummet to $145 by the end of the year. In a report released on Friday, Gupta, who previously worked under Brinkman, praised Tesla's vertical integration model as having "unique advantages," stating that this advantage "has not yet been fully appreciated or understood to some extent."
