In a recent study, Chinese scientists used data recorded continuously by ocean bottom seismometers, combined with deep learning algorithms, to successfully achieve automatic recognition and year-round continuous monitoring of the acoustic signals of Bryde's whales in the Beibu Gulf, revealing the acoustic activity patterns of this whale species in the Beibu Gulf. This study integrates artificial intelligence, geophysics, and marine biology, and was jointly completed by a research team composed of Guangxi University for Nationalities, Guangxi Academy of Sciences, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Seismological Bureau, and South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The related findings were published on June 4th in the international academic journal "Geophysical Research Letters".
