Kia is recalling over 6000 2027 model Telluride vehicles in the US due to a potential failure of the emergency locking system for seat belts.
On June 5th, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States announced that Kia Motors North America is applying to recall some 2027 Telluride and Telluride Hybrid vehicles, with a total of 6,264 potentially affected vehicles. The core reason for this recall is that the "emergency locking retractor" of the driver's safety belt in the affected vehicles may unexpectedly lock, causing the safety belt webbing to be unable to be pulled out properly. In the event of a collision, the safety belt, which cannot be properly extended, will be unable to effectively restrain the occupants, significantly increasing the risk of injury.
