AI wealth is not the effort of one person alone South Korean labor minister urges tech giants to share excess profits
South Korean Minister of Labor Kim Sung-hoon called on the country's major technology companies to share their huge unexpected profits, and warned that the artificial intelligence boom is bringing unprecedented profits to the chip industry, which may worsen income inequality. Kim Sung-hoon, in an interview with the media, said that companies like Samsung Electronics, which have exceeded their profit targets, should consider sharing their excess profits with suppliers, subcontractors, and employees after deducting taxes, given their contributions to the company's growth. He stated that the South Korean government, companies, unions, and suppliers should have open dialogues on how to share such "excess profits" and how to reduce the gap between large conglomerates and small suppliers.
