Broadcom's CEO Hock Tan stated that the company's focus has now shifted from mergers and acquisitions to artificial intelligence because AI provides stronger growth potential. This CEO has built this chip giant through a series of acquisitions. Tan, speaking at the Bloomberg technology conference in San Francisco on Thursday, said that AI revenue is soaring, making external transactions less attractive. "I look around - what can I buy that comes close to that level?" he said. He also stated that acquisitions are disruptive for both the company and its customers. Tan said that the demand for AI infrastructure in the market is almost insatiable. At Broadcom, Tan has made a massive shift towards the AI market. The California-based company sells network chips and custom accelerators that are used to develop and run AI models. He expects this business to bring in over $100 billion in revenue in the fiscal year 2027.
