Simplified import approval process for Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography machines from Korea.
The South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said in a statement that in order to help maintain the competitiveness of the domestic chip industry's thriving development, South Korea will simplify the customs clearance procedures for the import of extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) machines used in semiconductor production. According to the revised implementation guidelines of the "High Pressure Gas Safety Control Act" approved by the Cabinet, the import processing period for EUV equipment will be shortened from the previous 34 days to approximately 9 days. The Korean Ministry of Industry said that this new policy will benefit Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, allowing both companies to complete the installation and operation of high-end chip production equipment more quickly.
