According to Tokyo Electric Power Company, starting at noon on the 2nd, workers used a crane to lift fuel assemblies that are about 4 meters long and weigh about 250 kilograms each, one by one, and placed them into a metal container in the water. The diameter of the container is approximately 1.4 meters, with a length of about 5.6 meters. It is reported that in the spent fuel pool on the upper floor of the reactor building of Unit 2 at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, there are currently 587 used fuel assemblies and 28 unused fuel assemblies stored. Tokyo Electric Power Company plans to transfer all 615 fuel assemblies to the shared spent fuel pool within the nuclear power plant by the end of the 2028 fiscal year.
