Australia extends measures to release domestic petrol and diesel reserves.
Australian Minister for Energy, Chris Bowen, announced on Saturday that the country will continue with measures to release domestic fuel reserves. Currently, Australia is still dealing with the impact of the Iran situation on energy supply. This policy allows fuel companies to temporarily reduce their minimum reserve holdings by 20%, with a maximum release of 7.62 billion liters of gasoline and diesel. The extension of this policy will now last until September. This measure was first introduced in March of this year to alleviate fuel shortages, especially in remote areas, and was originally set to expire in July. Bowen stated in a televised address, "I believe continuing to retain this flexible policy is the best choice."
