Southern Theatre Command news spokesperson Zhai Shichen has made a statement regarding the infringement behavior of the Dutch warship.

The spokesperson of the Southern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army, Navy Colonel Dai Shichen, stated that on May 27, the Dutch Navy frigate "De Ruyter" illegally intruded into the Xisha Islands of China, repeatedly sending shipborne helicopters into Chinese airspace. The Chinese People's Liberation Army Southern Theater Command organized naval and air forces to issue verbal warnings and necessary measures such as electronic interference to drive away the intruders according to law and regulations. The actions of the Dutch side seriously violated China's territorial sovereignty and maritime and airspace security, seriously violated international law and basic principles of international relations, seriously undermined peace and stability in the South China Sea, and could easily lead to misunderstandings and misjudgments. We firmly oppose this and warn the Dutch side to immediately stop its provocative actions infringing on China's rights.
