Wang Yi meets with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov

On the 26th local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Bayramov during the high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council in New York. Wang Yi thanked Bayramov for coming to New York to attend the Security Council high-level meeting, saying that the friendship between China and Azerbaijan has a long history. Under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Aliyev, China-Azerbaijan relations have maintained a rapid development momentum, upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership, and led to comprehensive expansion of cooperation in various fields between the two countries. Next year will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan. Consolidating and developing China-Azerbaijan relations is a political decision of the leaders of both countries and a common choice of the two peoples. Regardless of changes in the international situation, China's determination to develop relations with Azerbaijan and deepen cooperation with Azerbaijan remains steadfast. China is willing to follow the principles of consensus between the heads of state with Azerbaijan, firmly support each other, jointly build the "Belt and Road", share development opportunities, strengthen multilateral cooperation, and better assist each other in modernization efforts. China will fully support Azerbaijan in its role as the rotating chair of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
