In March of this year, internet security police in Chengdu discovered that someone was selling information of homeowners in various residential areas in Chengdu in bulk online, allowing precise searches for names, phone numbers, and property details. It was found that insiders in the real estate industry, He and Ye, illegally stole a large amount of real estate and sensitive personal information of citizens using their positions. Multiple middlemen like Yu received the leaked data and illegally profited through multi-layer circulation and resale at a higher price. Many downstream real estate agents and home decoration industry professionals purchased the leaked information in bulk for commercial targeted marketing activities.
Currently, the police have arrested 56 suspects involved in illegal activities. Among them, 11 main suspects are key figures in the black market chain of the case, involving in the theft and resale of information, and have been taken into criminal custody on suspicion of infringing on citizens' personal information.
