Official announcement of the "lychee soaking in drugs" incident in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, 5 people have been criminally detained.

On May 15th, the media reported on the issue of some lychee purchasing points in Fugong Town and Baishui Town in Longhai District of Zhangzhou City illegally using additives to soak lychees. Zhangzhou City immediately initiated an emergency response, set up a dedicated team, and organized multiple departments to rush to Fugong Town and Baishui Town for joint law enforcement, quickly investigating and handling the situation. A total of 5 lychee purchasing points were investigated, and 225 kilograms of problematic lychees and a batch of illegal additives were confiscated, leading to the initiation of a case investigation. Continuous tracing led to the recovery of 540 kilograms of problematic lychees, confiscation of 20.1 kilograms of illegal additives, initiation of 12 administrative cases, 2 criminal cases, and the detention of 5 individuals. The problematic lychees and confiscated illegal additives have all been destroyed.
