The Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-chaired the first meeting of the China-France Working Group on Addressing Climate and Environmental Challenges with the Global Affairs Department of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On May 20, 2026, Qi Dahai, Director of the Department of Treaty and Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Geraldine Catrano, Director of Global Affairs at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the first meeting of the China-France Working Group on Addressing Climate and Environmental Challenges in Beijing. The National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Ministry of Water Resources, China Meteorological Administration, National Energy Administration, State Forestry and Grassland Administration, and representatives from the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and the French Embassy in China attended the meeting. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on important issues in the areas of climate change and environmental governance that are of common concern.
