The EU plans to allocate funds to support farmers in dealing with the increase in fertilizer prices.
The European Commission announced on the 19th that it plans to allocate emergency funds through the agricultural support program to help farmers cope with the soaring prices of fertilizers caused by the ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Christophe Hansen, the European Commissioner responsible for agriculture and food affairs, stated that the EU will provide targeted special support to the most affected farmers to help them purchase the fertilizers needed for the next season's crops. According to the plan, the European Commission plans to use the remaining funds from the EU Agricultural Crisis Reserve Fund as the first measure, with a scale of approximately 2 billion euros. The EU also plans to propose a plan to expand the relevant reserve fund before summer.
