Roberto Perli of the New York Federal Reserve Bank stated that the monthly purchases of Treasury securities by the Federal Reserve are not necessarily progressing along a predetermined path and can be adjusted based on market conditions. Perli, who is in charge of managing the Federal Reserve's System Open Market Account (SOMA), said that he and his colleagues are "ready at any time" to increase or decrease the pace of reserve management purchases as needed to keep reserves in the desired range.
