World Health Organization: This round of Ebola epidemic has caused more than 500 suspected cases.
On the 19th local time, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed deep concern about the scale and speed of the current Ebola epidemic and announced that an emergency committee meeting will be held to discuss response recommendations. Currently, there have been 30 confirmed cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, all of which are from the Ituri province in the northeast. Uganda has also reported two confirmed cases to the WHO, one of which has resulted in death, and both patients are individuals from the DRC. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the epidemic may further spread, resulting in more deaths, with over 500 suspected cases and 130 suspected deaths from Ebola. As the scale of field operations expands, including strengthening surveillance, contact tracing, and laboratory testing, these numbers are expected to change.
