Zhang Guoqing and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Trutnev jointly attended the opening ceremony of the 10th China-Russia Expo and chaired the sixth meeting of the China Northeast and Russia Far East Interregional Cooperation Committee.

On May 17, Zhang Gaoli, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony of the 10th China-Russia Expo in Harbin with Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Trutnev. They respectively read out congratulatory letters from President Xi Jinping and President Putin and delivered speeches. On the 16th, they co-chaired the sixth meeting of the China Northeast and Russia Far East Regional Government Cooperation Committee. Zhang Gaoli stated that President Xi Jinping's special congratulatory letter to the Expo fully reflects the high importance attached to practical cooperation between China and Russia. Under the strategic guidance of the two leaders, China-Russia cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. China is willing to work with Russia to follow the important consensus of the two leaders, make good use of platforms such as the China-Russia Expo, and leverage the "Northeast-Far East" cooperation mechanism to continuously expand mutually beneficial development space. Trutnev stated that Russia is willing to utilize the committee mechanism to unleash the potential for local cooperation and enrich the development outcomes of the two countries' relationship.
