On May 17th, local time, in the city of Pforzheim in the state of Baden-Wrttemberg in southern Germany, a World War II era bomb was detonated, prompting the evacuation of approximately 30,000 residents. According to local authorities, the bomb weighs around 1.8 tons and contains about 1.35 tons of explosives. It was discovered at a construction site in the eastern part of the city.
