Journalists have learned from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Molecular and Cellular Science Excellence Innovation Center that the An research group and their collaborators have used human pluripotent stem cells to construct a human "biological pacemaker" similar to the sinoatrial node in a culture dish. They have connected it to cardiac nerve cluster-like organs to achieve neural control of heartbeats. The relevant findings were recently published in the international academic journal "Cell Stem Cell".
