The shrinking of the gasoline car market is tearing open a new round of price reductions. On May 15th, the Changan EADO Classic Edition, a model under Changan Automobile, was officially launched with a starting price of 64,900 yuan, with a limited-time cash discount of 23,000 yuan; representing a 26% decrease compared to the guidance price of 87,900 yuan. According to a dealer in Hefei, the new price policy is already being implemented in their store. In fact, the price reduction of this new Changan car is just a microcosm of the market. Several gasoline cars in the market have started a new round of price cuts. According to the latest data released by Cui Dongshu, secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, in April 2026, the average price reduction of new gasoline cars was 13.1 million yuan, with an average reduction of 23,000 yuan and a reduction rate of 17.2%. From January to April this year, the average price reduction of new gasoline cars was 23.6 million yuan, with an average reduction of 34,000 yuan and a reduction rate of 14.6%.
