OpenAI has acquired the AI voice cloning tool company weights.gg
Two years ago, OpenAI's technology team released a blog post detailing that the company had developed the ability to replicate human voices using cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology. The researchers said that this new software technology was of extremely high quality, and due to careful consideration, OpenAI decided not to publicly disclose it at that time. Despite the company's stance remaining the same, they did not stop the development of related technologies. Two informants revealed that this year OpenAI quietly acquired the small startup Weights.gg, which specialized in providing AI tools for cloning human voices. The details of this acquisition have not been disclosed, and the specific terms of the deal are currently unknown. People familiar with the acquisition said that OpenAI also acquired the small team and all intellectual property of the company. Weights.gg announced the closure of all its services in March of this year. Weights.gg focused on building a platform community for users to develop and share various artificial intelligence algorithms. Users could use their free application Replay to achieve voice cloning and other related operations targeted towards the general public.
