HSBC strategist said that the contentious political situation has made British bonds "suitable only for half-hour trading."
Max Kettner, chief multi-asset strategist at HSBC Holdings, said that the contentious political situation in the UK is making investors cautious about making long-term bets in the British bond market. In an interview, he stated, "I want to buy, because on the surface, long-term bond yields are clearly attractive." However, he noted that concerns about challenges to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's leadership are keeping market volatility elevated, and said that currently, British bonds are only suitable for short-term trading.
