The data released by the Cyberspace Administration of China's reporting center on May 12, 2026, shows that in April 2026, the reporting center guided various levels of internet reporting departments nationwide and major website platforms to handle 16.861 million reports of illegal and harmful information such as pornography, gambling, infringement, and rumors. This was a decrease of 2.4% compared to the previous month and a 6.3% decrease year-on-year. Among them, the reporting center of the Cyberspace Administration of China handled 453,000 reports, local internet reporting departments handled 487,000 reports, and major website platforms nationwide handled 15.921 million reports. The reporting center of the Cyberspace Administration of China stated that major website platforms across the country continue to have smooth reporting channels and handle reports from internet users. They welcome the active participation of netizens in comprehensive internet governance to jointly maintain a clear online space.
