Recently, some netizens have discovered that WeChat is currently conducting a grayscale test of the "show footsteps" feature in user's status. Many netizens are concerned that WeChat may support visitor queries, and the related topic quickly trended on Weibo. In response to this, Sina Tech sought confirmation from Tencent customer service, who stated, "The 'show footsteps' feature is currently undergoing a grayscale test on the iOS client, mainly for active users who have updated to newer versions. If you are currently using a different operating system or version, you will not be able to experience this feature temporarily." Tencent customer service emphasized, "WeChat currently does not have a visitor query function, and all functions are designed with user privacy protection as a priority."
