On May 9, the Intermediate People's Court of Wuzhong City, Ningxia, publicly sentenced L Jinhuan, former Party Secretary and Director of the Health and Health Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and former Director of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Administration, for bribery. The defendant L Jinhuan was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the crime of bribery and fined 700,000 yuan; the proceeds from bribery in the case shall be recovered and turned over to the state treasury, and the outstanding amount shall continue to be recovered. The court found that from the first half of 2013 to March 2025, L Jinhuan took advantage of his positions as Vice President and President of the Autonomous Region People's Hospital, Vice Secretary, Secretary, and Director of the Health and Health Committee of the autonomous region to provide assistance to others in construction project contracting, medical consumables and equipment procurement, and employee recruitment, accepting bribes totaling 13.21 million yuan, of which 8.2963 million yuan was attempted but unsuccessful. The court believed that L Jinhuan's actions constituted the crime of bribery, and the amount of bribery was particularly huge, so he should be punished according to law. Due to L Jinhuan's truthful confession of his crimes, admission of guilt, and active return of embezzled funds after being brought to justice, a lighter punishment was given according to law. The judgment was then made as mentioned above. It is reported that the Wuzhong Intermediate People's Court held a public trial of the case on January 29, 2026. During the trial, the prosecution presented relevant evidence, the defendant L Jinhuan and his defense counsel conducted cross-examinations, and both sides expressed their opinions under the presiding judge's direction. L Jinhuan made a final statement and confessed his guilt and remorse in court. More than a hundred people, including relevant units and L Jinhuan's family members, attended the trial as spectators.
