Ukraine has claimed to have attacked two major fuel production facilities in Russia, as well as an oil pumping station, further escalating pressure on Russia's refining system. The operating rate of Russian refineries dropped to a multi-year low in April. Ukrainian President Zelensky said that a drone night attack targeted a refinery in Yaroslav located about 282 kilometers northeast of Moscow. Ukraine's State Security Service also reported another attack on the Permnefteorgsintez refinery in Perm and a nearby oil pumping station. Both facilities are located about 1500 kilometers east of Moscow and had been targeted earlier this week. The aforementioned refineries are among Russia's top ten fuel production facilities. The Yaroslav refinery, jointly owned by Russian oil company and Gazprom, has a daily processing capacity of about 300,000 barrels. The Perm refinery, belonging to Lukoil, has a production capacity of about 260,000 barrels per day. The Perm pumping station is part of Russia's main pipeline network, responsible for transporting crude oil from Western Siberia to central Russia and Lukoil refineries.
